Using JDownloader for DLC Files

某ブログ日本語解説 / Japanese Guide by Anzu4699P2 here.
JDownloader - 日本語言語ファイル 追加

JDownloader allows for advanced link protection while simplifying the download process. It allows non-premium users of hosters like rapidshare and megaupload to queue links for automated downloading. Using a .dlc file with JDownloader is very similar to torrenting, with the .dlc acting as the .torrent and JDownloader acting as your download client.

- Download JDownloader | MF
- Download a DLC file from a post
- Open JDownloader -> Link Grabber -> Load Container (Select the .dlc)

- Remove files and mirrors you don’t want and then ‘Add all packages’.
21

- Start Download

FAQ:

To Disable Automatic Extraction:
Settings → Plugins & Add-ons → Extensions → Uncheck JD Unrar

Using a Proxy Server:
Settings → Basics → Download & Connections → Internet & Network → Proxy Settings

If you receive an error message like:
Container Error: Server claims: (URL)
Do you have installed the newest version of JD? Server response: input length not multiple of 16 bytes

a) Check you are using the latest version of JDownloader.
b) The JDownloader Server may be down, try again in a few minutes.
c) If you load a lot of DLCs in a short period of time (4+ in 10min) the JDownloader server may ban you for an hour. You can either wait this out or get a fresh IP address. Check your current status here.
d) Consider redownloading JDownloader.

I’m having trouble with JDownloader are there any other similar programs I can use instead?
Yes, CryptLoad is available for Windows users. It supports .dlc usage and automated downloading. Here are their website and download pages.

  • Very interesting. I’ll definitely try this tools.
    Thanks for the instructive post.

  • Thanks for giving an alternative that is also available to Linux users. It looks interesting, I’ll definitely try it.

  • May I suggest that you include Mediafire links as well? Or simply replace Megaupload with it. No cooldowns, no limits, resumeable files, decent speed (at least for me). It works perfectly with JDownloader too.

  • /EDIT

Works perfectly under Ubuntu Linux, and is quite more convenient than manual downloads.
    Thanks again!

  • JDownloader is great, thanks for such a useful tool!

I was wondering, are you going to continue with the linkto urls in the future?

  • Glad to know the guide and program are working well at the moment.

    @Anonymous
I use mediafire for a lot of content on the site atm e.g. the Comic LO and Rin posts. It’s not without problems as well, but I’m still interested in trying it in the future with the manga posts.

    @Razeo
I’ll continue with both for the moment to give people a chance to get used to dlcs and see if there are any problems. Some time in the future or if links start getting reported I’ll change over to dlc only.

  • I like the program so far.
The only problem I have is that I can not get the software to not extract the rars after download.
I hope the authors continue to support this software so we can scrap the other download options.
Thanks again for all of your hard work Nir.

  • Disabling automatic extraction:
F11 (Or click “Extras” menu -> Configuration) -> Addon manager -> Untick JD-Unrar -> Save

Thanks, that’s something good to add to the guide.

  • Amazing software. I can finally download from RS and MU. Thanks so much.

  • Hi. I’ve used Jdownloader for a while, a few things you might want to add.

“Do you have installed the newest version of JD? Server response: input length not multiple of 16 bytes” error message either means that the JDownload server is down, you’re using an old version, or you’ve opened too many .dlc files in too short of time (5+ in 30 seconds?) and you’re banned for an hour.

And sometimes for no reason you just won’t be able to decrypt DLCs, to fix this just redownload JDownloader. But this is really rare.

  • Heh, I ran into the 5+ in 30 seconds or something thing I think. It stopped reading DLCs. I guess that would be good to be a little clearer, early in the guide and bolded.

Guess I’ll just have to go slower with the adding, which won’t matter since it won’t download faster with more packs anyway for a none-premium user like me.

  • thanks so much Nir….
the DAMNED UNRAR makes my folder a mess
taking me so long to differenciate which are extracted and which are not

  • Yeah, automatic unrar is a good feature but life is easier with it disabled.

  • this really bugs me. Every time I try to download the dlc file, I get a bunch of numbers and letters.

  • Your browser isn’t recognizing them as a file-type. You can either try another browser or find a way around it such as right-click ’save as’.

  • Silly me! Thanks Len!

  • Um, I can’t seem to download with it at all? o_O It says 0/58.85MB at all times it seems, and it fails to reconnect.

This is from Round Shell Second if that matters?

  • Did you try both mirrors? Megaupload is having issues atm.

  • At the same time, yes. :/ Not sure why I did both, but does that effect it?

  • Try using rapidshare alone and it should work. You don’t need to use a proxy or anything do you? You’re clicking the arrow to start the download? What error eventually displays?

  • Oh, now I understand, I wasn’t clicking the download arrow. :/ Hah, sorry about that. :P

  • I ckick the green arrow but the download don’t seems to begin. :/

  • >chaosia
Try the same things I mentioned above: rapidshare mirrors and tell me what error is eventually displayed.

  • this program isn’t colmpatible with Windows 7.

  • If you can install Java on Windows 7, JDownloader.jar should work fine.

  • I don’t know if it’s just me but i’m having some anticaptcha problems with megaupload. The other usual suspects work without a hitch, and raising the threshold to 95 doesn’t seem to help either.

This is on my lappy running xp.

  • You’re not alone, megaupload captchas were totally revamped so it’ll take a while for the database to be as accurate as it was before. On top of that they seem to be adding new captchas at a much faster rate.

Raising the threshold to near 100 doesn’t help if the guesses are so wrong it’ll never be able to get one right. For now, if you want unattended automated downloading it’s best to queue up the rapidshare mirrors.

  • Thanks Len, here I thought my installation was borked. You literally saved me from reinstalling win. (we all know whata a pain that is)

Anyway I hope JD catches up soon, I miss my unattended happy hour.

    +BTW amazing site

  • Is there any way to decode the dlc file to get the rapidshare links and download it yourself?

  • >Anonymous
Sorry, the whole point of encrypting links in a dlc is to hide the raw link to help prevent them from being reported and deleted.

  • Ah, well since it is to help the user, then I don’t mind installing java.

  • Anyone knows what’s up with the latest update?
    http://anonym.to/?http://img223.imageshack.us/my.php?image=47688830.png

I can’t get rid of the logo, can’t click on anything and can’t even get the DLC started!

  • It’s working for some people, I think most issues are stemming from their servers being hammered. This also means they’re giving out a lot of corrupt files from their update servers or not responding when you startup the program (which means you’re stuck with the logo). It’s disappointing you can’t choose to keep using the old version.

I’ll post more links in the comments until the initial rush ends.

  • I’ve used jdownloader 0.4 but it was updated to 0.5 and some troubles occured.
In my case, JD 0.5 is properly booted and works for links well, but can’t read DLC containers. If DLC is added, JD is gonna be gray and downed.
In my opinion, 0.5 is very disappointing. I hope this problems get well soon.

plus, If you’re gonna post links with DLC files, can I get megaupload links? easyshare links worked well but little bit slow to me.

  • >alka
Sure, I’ll add them to the comments section of the post.

  • CRYPTLOAD - The Way To Go (For Me, Anyway)

I installed the new JDownloader and I couldn’t get it to connect to megaupload, or actually download anything that was bigger than a misc. doujin. The connection would drop after less than a minute. I tried for days. Reinstalled it, updated it, etc. Then I installed CryptLoad. It’s not as convenient as JDownloader (why oh why did I update JD and get rid of the old version?), but it works like a charm.

  • I recieved a fatal plugin error message followed by a Browser$browser: null url message. Is there something wrong with the url or isnt my DLC version?

  • “is it” i mean.

  • >kinectic
Sounds like you’re using an out of date version of JDownloader.

Start from the beginning again and download the program from their official mirror. Then let it update and you shouldn’t get those sort of errors.

If that doesn’t work try out cryptload like the guide suggests.
    ttp://cryptload.info/download/

  • Is it only me or easyshare in dlc really doesn’t work? I get “file not found” error. And I get this error even on newest uploads.
    Version of jdownloader is 0.6.193

  • Easy-share recently changed their site and added a captcha. The current version of JDownloader hasn’t been updated to deal with this, so it reports all of their links as dead. The nightly tester version has an update though.

To try out the nightly version:
    Windows -> Run
    java -jar C:\JDownloader\jdupdate.jar -branch NIGHTLY
Assuming you have JDownloader in that directory.

To go back to the public version:
    java -jar C:\JDownloader\jdupdate.jar -branch RESET

  • with the recent updates of this program, basically… it’s a piece of crapnow. it just runs slow as hell, lot of lag and loading time between operations, and when i can finally get it downloading things i get speeds ranging between 1kb/s and 10kb/s.

dunno what happened, i’ve been using it for like a year and i’ve never had problems like this until the most recent updates.

  • >pattons
You aren’t forced to update to decrypt DLCs now, old versions continue to be fully functional. Do you have a backup with the old version you were happy with?

  • AnonymousCoward

The DLC container is well known for the broken concept and flawed algorithm,
introducing another weak chain and single point of failure to the already too weak http://WWW.
I do not intend to start a another flame war here, but let me say this.
Here is a brief explanation of DLC format and the design flaws.(in German)
My personal two cents, Jdownloader is just another download-resume-app with garbage added.
If we want torrent like functionality, multiple dl in single file click, why not just use metalink [http://www.metalinker.org/] and such.
Worst case scenario (as I know) is the JDownloader server going down, or malware introduced (We have seen it in the past) and all DLC links becoming invalid… Remember what happened when tinyurl went down?
I know this comment means nothing, but would like to ask for careful consideration before selecting such container format…

  • Improvement suggestions to the DLC-files:

Since Len has an RSS-feed for the releases, would it be much trouble to make (and maintain) a feed or a repository just for the DLC-links?

I’m going for something from where everyone could download the DLC-files for the newest/all releases all together, from a single source (preferably with wget or just a single webpage that contains all the links to DLC-files).
From what I gather, right now you have to scour through all the releases to get the download links.

This would be great to have, since the batch torrents are rare and far between. Anyone putting one up soon?

  • >Toaster
Sorry I think I’m missing something, most people don’t want to download everything posted, which is why we include sample images, post the filesizes, etc.

If you just want the DLC files it shouldn’t take more than 15min to get a month’s worth using ctrl-f ‘dlc’ and right-click?

Compiling a month’s dlc files into a single zip and uploading them is an option, but DLC protection is so terrible these days that it makes them all more likely to be reported.

Yeller said there’ll be a selective batch torrent soon once the c77 stuff dies down. It won’t have all the posts but it should have most of them. Maybe we should have a comprehensive Mediafire folder or FTP server where people can access a complete log of the releases for a small donation, but that sounds paysite-ish.

  • This app is complete garbage. I own a Rapidshare premium yet I’m not allowed to view the links or download at a premium speed with my account. This is a shitty tin-foil hat program which is clearly being utilized to make profit on advertising partnerships (which by the way, installs spyware on your system)

  • >Anonymous
Yes, JDownloader has a lot of problems and it is becoming more commercial. I don’t know about the spyware /advertising partnership you’re talking about but I don’t doubt that it’s something they could do.

Yes it is slower than just downloading the raw link in a download accelerator, but having a link to download at all is the point of the program. Any speed at all is better than 0kb/s and protection is the main function it’s used for here.

No-one is forcing you to use JDownloader, but the fact is .DLCing links keeps them alive for a little bit longer. Plus a lot of people like or at least use the program on this site. If you don’t like it, use the raw links provided or torrent.
